Networks with fewer than 10 chargers nationally aren't listed here individually — they may still appear on town and city pages.
2026 industry consolidation
The UK EV charging sector experienced significant consolidation in February 2026, marking a transformative period for the industry. Three major acquisitions were announced within days of each other, reshaping the competitive landscape:
**Be.EV acquires Mer** (February 13, 2026): Manchester-based Be.EV completed the acquisition of Mer's entire UK public charging network, adding 1,600+ charging bays across 450+ sites and expanding Be.EV's footprint to 2,500+ bays at 680+ locations. This acquisition positioned Be.EV among the UK's top 10 rapid and ultra-rapid charging networks.
**Connected Kerb acquires Trojan Energy** (February 10-11, 2026): Connected Kerb purchased Trojan Energy out of administration, acquiring its pioneering Flat & Flush subsurface charging technology and 1,500 live charge points (mostly in London). All 63 Trojan employees transferred, with the technology being integrated into Connected Kerb's portfolio.
**Ubitricity acquires FM Conway's SureCharge** (February 10, 2026): Shell subsidiary Ubitricity announced the takeover of FM Conway's SureCharge London EV charging network, adding 2,400+ lamppost-based charge points. This expanded the Shell Recharge network to over 14,000 charge points across 30 UK local authorities, consolidating Ubitricity's position as the UK's dominant charging operator with roughly double the charge points of any other network.
These consolidations reflect industry trends toward achieving scale, improving technology platforms, and navigating challenging economics. Industry analysts predict continued consolidation, with Be.EV's CEO stating expectations that the number of charge point operators in the UK will decrease from approximately 150 to just 5-6 key players. While consolidation may improve charging experience consistency and coverage, concerns have been raised about reduced competition and market concentration, with the top 10 operators already controlling 54% of UK charge points and the top 5 operators controlling 47% of rapid/ultra-rapid chargers.
