Why no account? Why no Google Maps?
Because you came here to find a charger, not to hand your location history to an advertising platform. Most EV apps are built on Google Maps, which means Google logs your search, your device, and your approximate location every time you use them. EVChargeSpot uses Leaflet with self-hosted fonts and no Google products anywhere in the stack. The map loads faster and Google sees nothing.
The app that promises to help you charge is often more interested in what it can learn about you than in actually helping you charge. We are not that. Read the full story on the about page. It has Terminators in it.
Where the data comes from
UK operators of public charge points are legally required to publish their location data as open data under the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023. EVChargeSpot compiles that data directly from operator feeds, cleans it, snaps it to real postcodes, and publishes it here. No single source has the full picture. We combine them all so you do not have to.
The data is public. The infrastructure is fast. The charger finder is free and will stay free.
