About Mer
Mer was a charging network operator that focused on providing standard and rapid charging solutions across the UK, with emphasis on accessibility and affordability. The company had been serving diverse customer segments including private drivers and commercial fleets, with charging infrastructure distributed across various locations from urban centres to suburban areas. However, in February 2026, Mer's UK public charging network was acquired by Be.EV as part of significant industry consolidation. The acquisition added over 1,600 charging bays across more than 450 sites to Be.EV's network, significantly strengthening Be.EV's position in the South of England. According to Mer's CEO Kristoffer Thoner at the time of acquisition: "This transaction supports Be.EV's growth while allowing Mer to sharpen our strategic focus on our core European markets." Existing customers have been transitioned to Be.EV's network, benefiting from Be.EV's competitive 39p/kWh subscription tariff and 7pm-7am off-peak rates. Mer has since shifted its focus to serving European markets beyond the UK.
