EV charger grants in Scotland 2026

Scotland has the most generous EV charger grant support in the UK. On top of the UK-wide OZEV grants available to everyone, Scottish residents can access additional funding from the Scottish Government via the Energy Saving Trust. This page covers every grant currently available, who qualifies, and where to apply.

Last updated: April 2026

Scotland advantage: If you are eligible for both the OZEV grant and an Energy Saving Trust Scotland grant, you can claim both. They can be stacked. Apply for each separately — your installer handles the OZEV claim, but you apply directly to Energy Saving Trust for Scottish grants.

How to apply: step by step

1. Check your vehicle is eligible. Check the OZEV list of eligible vehicles on GOV.UK.

2. Find an approved installer. For OZEV grants, use the OZEV authorised installer list. For EST Scotland grants, your installer must also be approved by Energy Saving Trust — check the EST approved installer list.

3. Apply before installation starts. For OZEV grants, apply via GOV.UK links above. For EST grants, apply directly at energysavingtrust.org.uk. Do not allow installation to begin before receiving a grant offer letter for each scheme.

4. Wait for approval from each scheme separately. OZEV and Energy Saving Trust are separate processes. If applying for both, you will receive two grant offer letters.

5. Installation and claiming. For OZEV grants, your installer claims on your behalf and deducts the amount from your bill. For EST grants, you upload your paid invoice and installation certificate to the Energy Saving Trust customer portal once work is complete.

Grants are first come, first served. EST Scotland grants in particular have limited annual budgets and can close without notice during the financial year. The Domestic Chargepoint Grant closed mid-year in 2024 and 2025. Apply as early in the financial year as possible. Register your interest now if a grant is currently closed.
