Charging & Connectors

The map covers all common UK connector types: CCS (Combined Charging System), CHAdeMO, Type 2 (Mennekes), and 3-pin domestic connectors. Connector details are shown on individual charge point listings within the map.

Slow chargers (up to 3.7kW) are typically found at home or long-stay car parks and take several hours. Fast chargers (7–22kW) are common at supermarkets and destinations, adding 30–80 miles per hour. Rapid chargers (50kW+) are found on motorways and major routes and can charge to 80% in 20–45 minutes depending on the vehicle.

Live availability depends on whether the charging network shares real-time status data with Open Charge Map. Some locations show live status; others show static information. We're working on improving live data coverage in a future update.

Data & Accuracy

Charge point data is sourced from Open Charge Map, a community-maintained open registry of EV charging locations updated continuously by contributors and network operators.

Data is updated regularly but as with any community database, some listings may occasionally be out of date. Always check with the charge point operator for confirmed live availability before travelling specifically to charge.

You can report or update charge point data directly at openchargemap.org. Corrections made there will appear on EVChargeSpot automatically.
